2023 Advent Calendar - Fellowship of the Ring

I watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy movies every year, usually at Christmas with my family - which now consists of fiercely, independent women who love to watch these movies like our own brand of Dickerson Mystery Science Theater 3000.

I LOVE THESE MOVIES! I love the friendship, the loyalty, the coming together of many peoples to fight one bad guy, the betrayal, the action, the humor, the humanity of the characters and their flaws. Then I found out this year that my yarn is included in Tanis Gray’s The Fellowship of the Knits: Lord of the Rings: The Unofficial Knitting Book! *SWOOOOON*

It seemed a natural fit to continue this year with The Fellowship of the Ring Advent.

You have a couple of choices this year for the Advent. You can choose the typical

Advent with 25 individually wrapped 20g or 92 yards minis or you can choose those same minis with an additional full skein of a complementary color.

This year’s Fellowship of the Ring box will include some really fun extras as Cottontail Farms is a collaborator on this year’s collection! I just hope I can keep all the secrets until the box opening.

There are THREE bases for this year's advent. 

You also will have the opportunity to choose the complementary full skein with each set. 

Songbird - all the yarn will be 75% Superwash merino/25% nylon 4-ply fingering weight skeins, 92 yards on each mini or 20g. The full skein is 100g and 463 yards. 

Tough Little Birds - all the yarn will be 75% Superwash Bluefaced Leicester/25% nylon 4 ply fingering weight, 92 yards each or 20 g. The full skein is 100g and 464 yards. 

Eiderdown II - all the yarn in this box will be 80% superwash merino/10% cashmere/10% nylon, 2 ply fingering weight, 2 ply, 80 yards each or 20 g. The full skein is 100g and 435 yards of 4 ply. 

I am deep in color development now, and I cannot wait for you to see this box of yarny fun. Each yarn bundle will be numbered for you to open your gifts each day leading up to the BIG 25th. This box filled with goodies & surprises also will include pattern suggestions to give you choices in how to use your Fellowship of the Ring box.

I’ve already received some questions about the colors with The Fellowship of the Ring box. I intend for this year’s box to be a fade with variegates and speckles. I can already see it in my head, but there’s no getting around the darkness included in this story. So, yes, there will be some dark colors in this box, but these dark colors will not overwhelm the light. As this is one of my all-time favorite movies, please know that I have very high standards in my head, and I will send you something that I am proud to have created.

WHAT IS AN ADVENT CALENDAR?

A Yarn Advent Calendar is a yarn package filled with delight! You (ideally) open a surprise mini-skein daily (if you can manage holding off). Each day’s surprise is individually gift-wrapped and numbered for each day Dec. 1 through Dec. 24. 

CARE OF YOUR ADVENT CALENDAR YARN

The yarn in this box will be superwash, but for best results, we recommend hand-washing with very light agitation and drying flat. 

SHIPPING

We plan to start shipping Nov. 13 for you to open your first gift on Dec. 1.
