Robin's Promise Yarn Company currently offers four yarn bases from which to choose. Every base is available in the entire Robin's Promise color way catalog.

  • Songbird – Fingering weight
  • Eiderdown Fingering - Fingering weight
  • Tough Little Birds – Fingering weight
  • Two Sparrows – DK weight
  • Two Birds in the Hand - DK weight
  • Eiderdown DK - DK weight
  • Bird of Prey – Bulky weight

Each skein is hand-dyed, so color may vary from skein to skein. Further variance can be caused by color differences on your screen. 

SONGBIRD

Songbird Fingering, my most popular base, is the PERFECT weight yarn for that sweater you want to wear every single day, the mittens you will wear on your daily commute, socks that keep your tootsies warm all winter and your favorite blanket you want to snuggle into nightly. I chose this yarn because of its ability to be a workhorse yarn while having a lovely drape and feel. This 4-ply, all-purpose and versatile fingering weight yarn will hold up to wear and has incredible stitch definition.

Songbird is a springy superwash merino that is super soft. Add that to 25% nylon for strength, you then have a yarn that will last for the ages with proper care. While this yarn is categorized as a superwash, handling your handmade items as gently as possible will extend your garment’s wear.

EIDERDOWN FINGERING

Every time we bring out the Eiderdown Fingering, we pet it all the way to the soaking bin. This sumptuous and luscious yarn is nothing short of ecstasy. This MCN yarn is super plump for a fingering weight and is made up of 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon. With a generous 435 yards, this yarn is perfect for all your garments worn close to your skin.

TOUGH LITTLE BIRDS

Tough Little Birds Fingering is a Bluefaced Leicester base added April of 2022.

This tough yarn is a beautiful product and takes the dye really well. It’s perfect for sweaters, shawls and absolutely incomparable for sock knitters. The long staple (the length of a lock of shorn wool) in the BFL wool creates a hard-wearing yarn that is resistant to pilling and makes it super strong. BFL also has better rebound//memory, so your socks or garment or shawl won’t stretch out. Add 25% nylon to the mix, and your socks are going to wear for a long time!

TWO SPARROWS

Two Sparrows is my super-popular DK base! This 4-ply yarn is the PERFECT yarn sweaters, ponchos and socks that get daily wear. Two Sparrows is the DK equivalent to Songbird in fingering weight. I chose this yarn because of its ability to be a workhorse yarn while having a lovely drape and feel. This all-purpose and versatile DK yarn will hold up to wear and has incredible stitch definition.

TWO BIRDS IN THE HAND

Two Birds in the Hand is another popular DK base! This 4-ply yarn is 100% superwash merino for those purists out there who want to work only with natural fibers. This beauty soaks up the dye like noboby's business! It's PERFECT for all your DK or Sport weight crafting. This all-purpose and versatile DK yarn will hold up to wear and has incredible stitch definition.

While this yarn is categorized as a superwash, handling your handmade items as gently as possible will extend your garment’s wear.

EIDERDOWN DK

Eiderdown DK is the twin to Eiderdown Fingering and is luxury at its finest. This heavier weight luscious and sumptuous MCN yarn is made up of 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon.

RAPTOR

Raptor Worsted is extreme squish! You want a project that will go fast and still feel like quality in your hands, then this yarn is for you! This 4-ply yarn is the PERFECT yarn for that super cute hat you want to do with the largest pom you can find. This gorgeous, fluffy yarn is the ticket for keeping your noggin or your phalanges warm. This yarn loves being dyed – the more the better! So be on the look out for deeply saturated colors in this line to make those shawls, cowls or hats.
